Hi! I’m Samantha.
I enjoy gardening, baking, movement be it hiking or yoga or dancing, ongoing learning, spending time with friends, family and my dog, finding cool coffee shops and reading.
Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
— Viktor E. Frankl
Life throws a lot our way—constant challenges, endless to-dos, and distractions at every turn. It’s tough to find a moment for ourselves in the midst of it all. Therapy is an opportunity to slow things down and focus on you. My approach is rooted in compassion, guided by person-centered, trauma-informed, and strength-based principles. Through a collaborative effort, I hope to foster an environment that creates a sense of comfort and security, where you leave feeling heard, supported, and empowered. Together, you and I will work to understand what your goals are as well as the most effective strategies to achieve them.
As a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto, I focused my studies primarily in Mental Health and Health. Additionally, I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. My work experience ranges from hospital environments and community mental health services supporting folks of all ages and walks of life. In addition to my career as a social worker, I have a decade of experience in healthcare as a Registered Massage Therapist. Through my work as an RMT, I witnessed firsthand how the body stores our emotional and mental stress, contributing to our overall health and well-being. In recognizing that our health extends beyond our physical state, I feel it’s important to take a holistic approach to healing. I believe this is also true for therapy. My therapeutic process aims to build mind-body awareness by integrating techniques from mindfulness-based practices, cognitive behavior therapy, emotional-focused therapy and other body based modalities. With both personal and professional experiences informing my practice, I am passionate about supporting people through interpersonal challenges, complex family relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief.
In recognizing that everyone’s preferences and needs for therapy are different, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. This call will give us the opportunity to get to know one another better, discuss your therapeutic goals, and provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you might have. I appreciate what it may have taken for you to take this step, and I look forward to having the privilege of getting to know you through this journey.
