Hi! I’m Phil.
Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention.

The decision to begin counselling is often the first step towards improved relationships and feeling better. I have faith in people and am strength-based and patient. My approach is to begin by exploring the client’s own view of their issues, their best hopes for a resolution, and their expectations of counselling.
I am a registered social worker and have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto. My training includes emotion-focused therapy, couple therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, parent-adolescent conflict, and trauma.
I work with many first responders dealing with recent or past traumatic experiences in their work. I am comfortable working with clients with a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, couple conflict, grief, or facing difficult life decisions or events.
We will work together on your goals. I am committed to staying current with the best therapeutic practices and research. In our first few sessions, I will learn about your challenges, strengths, and family background and administer inventories to give a clinical measurement of depression and anxiety.
In addition to my clinical practice at Beaches Therapy Group, I work as a management consultant focusing on staff retention, clinical supervision, and creating productive and healthy work environments. I have more than 30 years of experience working with adults and adolescents and have authored or co-authored more than a dozen publications, dealing mainly with workplace stress, trauma, and resilience factors.
I am happy to offer a free telephone consultation to answer any questions you might have about my approach and background.
