Hi! I’m Elyse.
I enjoy Yoga, spinning, live music, being outdoors near water, long walks in nature, travel, spending time with family, friends, and my dog.
Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.
–Brene’ Brown
I began my career as a high school English teacher. After a short time, I realized my true passion of working with individuals to support their mental health and well-being. I transitioned into the role of Guidance Counsellor and eventually Department Head of Guidance, where I worked with adolescents and their families struggling with a range of personal issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction, abuse, homelessness, gender & sexual identity and bereavement. After more than 20 years of working in the school system, I have expanded my counselling career and transitioned to practicing psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families.
I believe trust and connection are the foundation for a strong and successful therapeutic relationship. I focus on providing a warm, empathetic environment for individuals seeking to navigate their mental health journey. I am dedicated to exploring how relationships and life events influence how we see ourselves and the world around us, and in turn, how these perceptions and experiences affect our relationships with others, and most significantly, our sense of self.
My theoretical orientation is grounded in Attachment-Based and Emotionally Focused Therapy, with additional tools and resources drawn from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
