Sunita Prasad, MSW RSW

Sunita is a trained clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, youth, adults, and families.  Her empathic, kind, and compassionate approach provides a safe and comfortable area for her clients to express their emotional needs and develop rapport. Her sessions always focus on developing and strengthening a therapeutic relationship between the client and clinician. This connection will enable the best results

 She utilizes an eclectic blend of therapeutic strategies and tailors each treatment plan to better help each client develop their skills and improve coping strategies. Sunita uses Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Applied Behavioural Analysis as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Strengths-based therapy through an attachment lens. 

Sunita is trained to support children with ADHD, autism, emotional difficulties, school issues, self-esteem concerns, body dysmorphia, and other mental health concerns. During her sessions with children and youth, Sunita engages with the parents as well, giving them valuable resources and skills to support their children more effectively. For family sessions, Sunita identifies and analyzes the family dynamics and incorporates each family member’s goals into the treatment plan. 

Sunita is also skilled in working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, work stress, familial conflict, imposter syndrome, and various other life stressors.  During individual sessions with adults, she focuses on emotional wellness, coping skills, identification of thought processes, and communication patterns.
