Hi! I’m Maximanova.
I like trying new restaurants, crafting, organizing, gift-giving, singing and dancing in my kitchen, walking with a podcast, and spending time with my family.
When we can see ourselves as we truly are and accept ourselves, we build the necessary foundation for self-love.
— Bell Hooks
Relationships are at the forefront of our lives–with family, friends, coworkers, society, and ourselves. My therapeutic approach centers on your relationship with others and yourself. Starting therapy can be daunting and scary since you are opening up to a new person; my goal is to meet you with empathy, compassion, humour, and support to help you pursue your treatment goals. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and individualized to meet your needs holistically as a person living in a complex society.
When working with children, youth, families, adults, and couples, I utilize a variety of approaches, including techniques from Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Somatic-Based Psychotherapy. I am training to become a Registered Dance Movement Therapist, so I often incorporate movement, the body, and other expressive techniques into my sessions.
Coming from the U.S., I earned a Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from the University of Washington School of Social Work in Seattle, Washington. I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
