Sunita is a trained clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working with children and families. She uses Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Applied Behavioural Analysis as the core treatment modalities, but uses an eclectic therapeutic approach to best serve the clients needs. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Strengths based therapy. Sunita always focuses on trying to use the right combination of techniques to match the clients' needs. Her sessions always focus on developing and strengthening a therapeutic relationship between client and clinician. This connection will enable the best results.
Sunita develops a treatment plan with the client to ensure the best possible outcomes. During individual sessions, she focuses on emotional wellness, coping skills, identification of thought processes and communication patterns. For family sessions, Sunita identifies and analyzes the family's dynamics and incorporates each family member's goals into the treatment plan.
Sunita is trained to support children with diagnosis ( ADHD, Autism), emotional difficulties, school issues, self esteem concerns, body dysmorphia, and other mental health concerns. Even though the sessions are with the child, it is imperative that the parents are always involved in providing support for the changes that the child is trying to achieve. So Sunita always makes sure that parents learn how to support their child effectively.
