Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Joshua J Marine

I have had this popular quote framed on my wall for years as a reminder that although life might throw us curve balls, it is how we choose to swing the bat that counts. When we face various obstacles in life, we can either choose to confront the problem head-on and solve it on our own, or we can reach out to those around us. Reaching out for support can be a scary and overwhelming decision; it takes a lot of courage to take that first step. My goal is to make you feel safe and secure, through developing a strong and collaborative therapeutic alliance.

I am a Registered Social Worker and completed my Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a specialization in Children and their Families. I am passionate about working with children with varying abilities. I have experience working with both children and adults with neurodivergence such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and ADHD. I also have experience working with school-aged children and adolescents, as well as with children and families involved with CAS. Additionally, I have a diploma specializing in Addiction and Mental Health and have spent the past four years working primarily with adults presenting with addictions and concurrent disorders in a clinical/hospital setting.

I have an understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques, and enjoy utilizing these intervention tools as part of my treatment approach. I am also keen on incorporating alternative therapeutic modalities into practice where appropriate, such as art & play therapy methods. Interestingly, my dream is to one day incorporate animals into my therapeutic practice, also known as Animal Assisted Therapy.

I look forward to speaking with you through an initial phone consultation, and should you decide that I am a good fit, working with you to develop and work through your therapeutic goals!
