Amanda Honigsberg, MSW RSW

The last few years have shown us all how unpredictable and chaotic life can be. Dealing with loss and/or changes can affect people differently, and sometimes feel overwhelming.  I help children, adolescents and their families understand and navigate these changes, with the goal of moving forward in the best way possible. I believe change can be a catalyst and an opportunity for growth.

There are different ways I can help with this. Children and adolescents, just like adults, sometimes need help making sense of their experiences and feelings. By better understanding this, I help them to set goals, build on their strengths and create healthy ways to cope with whatever it is they are struggling with. Building a relationship based on trust and free of judgement, I use a range of modalities tailoring my work with every person based on their needs and what works best for them. This includes elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness meditation, emotionally focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, play therapy and goal setting.

I have over twenty years of experience helping children, individuals and families navigate challenging and unpredictable situations. I have a Bachelor’s in Social Work from McGill University, as well as a Master’s in Social Work specializing in children and their families from the University of Toronto.
