I have been described as warm, compassionate, patient, easy to talk and someone who strives to identify the complex and dynamic issues affecting emotions, behaviours, thoughts and relationships. I provide psychotherapy to adolescents, adults and families, individually and in group settings, using client-centered therapeutic approaches that integrate principles from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to name a few that are informed by theories of family systems and attachment. I have helped clients with a wide range of issues, including couple and family issues, communication difficulties, anxiety, depression, academic difficulties, behavioural and emotional regulation, trauma, life transitions, anger, self-esteem and grief and loss.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (R.P.) with the CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I hold a Masters of Counselling (M.C) from the University of Lethbridge, after having completed an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc.) specializing in Paramedicine at the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA) in Psychology at York University.
Wanting to provide the best of care to my clients, I continue to pursue professional development, like additional graduate level training in Couple and Family Therapy Studies at the University of Guelph, regularly attending workshops and courses, keeping informed of current literature to improve my knowledge and skills as a therapist. Not only do I have a strong capacity to empathize with my clients, I focus on empowering and helping them recognize that they have the resilience and strengths to navigate the difficult times and seasons in their lives.
